It has now been transformed into a Luxury 4 star home in an ideal central touring location. Facilities include underfloor Central Heating. Large Sitting Room / Parlour (with open fireplace and safe electric fire), 2 colour TVs and Video Cassette Recorder. Fully Fitted Kitchen, Dishwasher, Washing Machine and Dryer. Sleeps 6: Three Bedrooms (1 Double Bed / 1 Twin Bedded Room / 1 Single Bedroom/ Press Bed and 1 Cot). Bathroom and 2 Bedrooms Ensuite. Stereo / C.D. Player. Landscaped garden, Patio and raised flowerbeds. Bed Linen and Towels supplied.

holiday cottage irelandYou'll be sure to enjoy a visit to the Fishersmans Pub, a real traditional Irish pub. You may be lucky enough to drop in on a night when local musicians are playing. You will always enjoy the open turf fire and a friendly chat with the locals. When you stop in make sure to say hello to Sean, the pub's owner who will make you feel welcome. Sean is less than 5 minutes down a quiet country road. For more entertainment click here

If you want a break from cooking, Delaneys restaurant is within walking distance. They're known for serving the freshest Irish breakfast anywhere. Dinner prices range from €6 to €14 for a steak dinner.

If you want to go further afield, Abbeyview Cottage is only ten miles from either Portaoise or Kildare.

Because we are so central, our more adventurous visitors use us as a base to visit many parts of the country on day trips. For example the most common day trips are Dublin, our Capital city, attractions include Some examples are Dublinia, the Guinness factory and the National Museum (1 hour)
Newgrange, the oldest burial site in Europe, built about 3200 BC (2 hours)
Bunratty Castle, built in 1425 and village, another popular one (2 hours)
The Burren, See how, thousands of years ago, man left his mark on the landscape in the form of Dolmens and burial chambers (2 hours)
The Cliffs of Moher, The Cliffs are 8km long and 214m high, a spectacular sight (2.5 hours)
Galway City, One of the fastest growing cities in Europe but much more layed back (3 hours)
Kilkenny City, Popular for it's Castle, built in 1172. Kilkenny is also known for it's night life (1 hour)
Waterford, famous for Waterford Crystal (1.5 hours)
Birr Castle and Telescope, this 72 inch reflecting telescope was built during the 1840's and was the largest in the world for three quarters of a century (1 hour)
Kinnity Castle (the original Castle was built by the Normans in the 13th century) and Pyramid (45 minutes)

Glendalough, St. Kevin founded this monastery in 498 AD (1.5 hours)

Monasterevan, The only hydroduct in the country, look that up in your dictionary!! By the way this is the place to buy all your Pure Irish Wool Aran jumpers and cardigans etc., straight from the knitware factory at unbelievable prices (5 minutes)
Portarlington, famous for it's Hugeno (French) connection (5 minutes)
Portlaoise, The principle town of Laois, with the biggest shopping centres, centre of night life and entertainment. (10 minutes)
Stradbally, famous for it's Steam Rally and now for the paint ball games(10 minutes)
Mountmellick, famous for it's lace (15 minutes)
Athy, visit the museum (15 minutes)
Rathangan, on the banks of the Canal (15 minutes)
Mountrath, on the way to Limerick (20 minutes)
Abbeyleix, beautiful historic town (20 minutes)
Ballacolla, National Ploughing Championships (30 minutes)
Durrow, next town after Abbeyleix (30 minutes)
Tullamore, County Offaly's principle town (25 minutes)
Carlow, I think the biggest night club in Ireland is based here (25 minutes)

Where are we?

Our Address is Jamestown, Ballybrittas, Co. Laois (pronounced Leesh). We are litererally in the centre of the country and very accesible being only 500 metres from the N7, Irelands main route from Dublin to Cork and Limerick. We are 1 hour from Dublin and 1 hour from Kilkenny. We are surrounded by counties Kildare, Carlow, Tipperary, Kilkenny and Offaly.

Prices in Ireland
These are typical prices that you would pay in the large supermarkets: - Low Fat Milk 1ltr 1l Plastic €0.77, Stay Fresh White Sliced Bread 800g €0.90, 40 Tea Bags 125g €1.26, Gold Coffee 100g €3.45, Cornflakes 500g €1.09, wine 75cl from €5, Beer 50cl from €2. You can find groceries in Lidl supermarket will be approx 20% less than these prices and the small shops will be a little more expensive than these prices. For petrol (gasoline) it costs €35 - €40 to fill the toyota corolla which works out at approx. €0.89 per litre.
